Nights Laser Operative
Location: Poynton
Shift Pattern: Sunday to Thursday, 10:00pm – 6:00am
Department: Production / Cutting Operations
Industry: Heavy Manufacturing
Job Type: Temporary to Permanent
Time Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Laser Operative to join a well-established manufacturing business based in Poynton. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with laser cutting or sheet metal experience to join a busy production environment offering long-term career prospects and development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate CNC laser cutting machinery to produce precision-cut metal components.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and work orders accurately.
- Set up and monitor laser cutting equipment to ensure quality standards are maintained.
- Carry out routine machine checks and basic maintenance procedures.
- Work towards daily production targets while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Support wider fabrication and manufacturing operations as required.
- Complete production documentation, shift records, and material usage logs.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience operating laser cutting machinery is essential.
- Background within sheet metal, fabrication, engineering, or manufacturing environments.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Comfortable handling heavy materials and working in a physically demanding environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Knowledge of CNC machinery and processes.
- Basic programming experience would be advantageous.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work permanent night shifts.
- FLT Licence and/or Overhead Crane experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
Pre-Employment Process
Successful candidates will be required to complete a practical assessment to demonstrate suitability for the role, including:
- Use of basic hand tools.
- Accurate use of a tape measure.
- Demonstration of general manufacturing aptitude.
