Waste Recycling Operative

Location: Salford
Hours: 08:00am - 5:00pm (most shifts finish around 4:30pm)

We are currently recruiting Waste Recycling Operatives for a busy recycling facility in Salford.

The role involves working on a sorting line, picking recyclable materials from a moving conveyor belt. Materials handled on site include:

• Plastic
• Metal
• Paper
• Cardboard
• Other recyclable materials

Please note that the site processes non-hazardous waste only. No hazardous, chemical, clinical, or asbestos waste is handled.

This is a hands-on role that involves standing for the majority of the shift and carrying out repetitive duties in a fast-paced recycling environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Sorting recyclable materials from a moving conveyor belt
• Identifying and separating different waste streams
• Removing contamination from recyclable materials
• Maintaining quality standards throughout the sorting process
• Keeping work areas clean and tidy
• Assisting with general site housekeeping duties
• Following company health and safety procedures at all times
• Reporting any machinery faults, hazards, or safety concerns to supervisors
• Supporting other operational duties as required

Candidate Requirements

• Reliable and punctual
• Able to work in a physically demanding environment
• Comfortable standing for long periods
• Able to carry out repetitive tasks throughout the working day
• Good attention to detail
• Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team
• Previous experience within recycling, waste management, production, manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environments is advantageous but not essential

PPE Requirements

The following PPE is mandatory:

• Safety boots
• High-visibility vest or jacket

Additional PPE will be provided where required.
