Job Specification: Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager Location: Birmingham or Manchester (with travel to Derbyshire)

We are seeking an ambitious and experienced Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager to lead the commercial aspects of our £12 million regeneration project in Derbyshire. Our clients span the Education, Office, Commercial, and Industrial sectors.
Salary: £45,000 - £70,000 (package) - Negotiable
Key Responsibilities: Cost Management: Oversee project budgets and ensure financial control. Estimate and budget for projects, considering materials, labor, and overhead costs. Procurement: Manage the procurement process, negotiating contracts with suppliers and subcontractors. Ensure cost-effective purchasing of materials and services. Contract Management: Draft and manage construction contracts. Administer contract terms and conditions, handling variations and claims. Risk Management: Identify and assess project risks. Implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential issues. Financial Reporting: Provide regular financial reports to stakeholders. Analyze financial data and advise on cost-saving measures. Tendering & Bidding: Prepare and submit tender proposals. Review and assess subcontractor bids. Change Management: Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs. Evaluate the impact of changes on the project. Project Closeout: Oversee the financial closeout of projects. Conduct final cost assessments and evaluations.
Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate will be a Senior Quantity Surveyor from an SME seeking career progression or a Quantity Surveyor from a sizeable main contractor looking to attain Commercial Manager status. This role offers the chance to oversee projects with long-term growth prospects.
Qualifications and Experience: Degree in Quantity Surveying or a relevant field. Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor in a main contractor setting. Strong knowledge of construction contracts and procurement processes. Experience in highways, civils, new build, and fit-out projects. Excellent financial and analytical skills. Ability to lead and manage a commercial team effectively. Ability to oversee multiple projects, manage CVRs, and conduct forecasting. Willingness to travel to site a couple of times per week and to the Manchester or Birmingham office.
