Time Recruitment Solutions are currently assisting a one of the largest mobile elevating work platform manufacturers in Europe who sell their market-leading products worldwide. They specialise in compact, low weight articulating booms that offer maximum performance with minimal environmental impact.

They use advanced 3D modelling software together with rigorous testing to optimise every aspect of product design and to ensure that every manufactured platform delivers outstanding performance without compromising on functionality or reliability.

With years of experience designing machines for the rental industry, they understand the importance of reliability, ease of operation, minimal maintenance, and excellent after-sales support to all their customers.

Overview of Production Engineer

Hands on control of a production line / area, within the overall production function team. Provide leadership to the team and drive targets to meet output KPI's.

Main Tasks

* Efficient organisation and control of staff. Regular and structured communication with teams, through daily team shift start up meetings and Stakeholder Meeting held and chaired to set agenda;

* Hands on support to achieve full flexibility, balancing and achievement to standards;

* Compliance with health and safety standards. Risk assessments, COSHH Assessments, Manual Handling Assessments, Safety Barometers;

* Ensuring ISO 9001 procedures are complied with, including in process inspection sheets, auditing and controlling line quality, control of internal / external quality notes, and the implementation of preventative actions;

* Maintaining accurate information on the company's manufacturing systems (i.e. engineering masters / works orders etc.);

* Control attainment to build plan delivery requirements, through liaison with Production Administrator and Section Managers. Hands on maintenance to balance the flow line, and minimise line stoppages, including absence cover. Flexibility to ensure targets are meet;

* Continuous improvement, through Kaizen. Actual times to be achieved and beaten through implementation of lean manufacturing, including removal of all non-value added operations (7 Wastes). Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and organisation (5s);

* Measuring and managing performance in accidents / incidents, internal quality defects, cell productivity / utilisation, takt analysis, overall stock accuracy and WIP (flow line adherence);

* Ensuring all related company procedures are audited and complied with (process instructions, PDI sheets, concern notes, maintenance logs etc.);

Example of Daily responsibilities (non-exhaustive list):

* Daily communication with opposite Team Leaders and Shift Supervisor to communicate key information;

* Evaluate overtime requirement for the week ahead inc. weekend cover, plan request and authorise coverage with Shift Supervisor;

* Audit all documentation is being filled out correctly and comprehensively (PDI, Maintenance and 5S logs etc.);

* Review each operation at regular intervals to confirm attainment to takt time, where necessary provide assistance or transfer extra resource to maintain line balance;

* Monitor and advise any deviations to build plan completion date as soon as known;

* Audit product quality standards, address any non-conformance issues;

* Check and confirm accuracy of concern note reports. (Root cause Analysis);

* Minimise to absolute minimum all line stoppages. (Data from delivery performance);

* Develop team skills (ref matrix) through team development. 85% target versatility;

* Audit and sustain defined working practices and procedures;

* Work hours necessary to fulfil requirements. Lead by example, start, finish times and tea breaks ('bell to bell' working);

* Daily production meeting;

* Approve and sign off employee holiday request forms.

Example of Weekly responsibilities (non-exhaustive list):

* Shadow boards comprehensively audited, stocked and maintained, without any losses;

* Maintain operational standards / discipline;

* Proactive attendance in weekly meetings. (CI, H&S, Quality);

* Deliver CI team brief to communicate key information to the team;

* Initial holiday request forms and issue to shift supervisor for approval;

* Audit consumables and communicate shortages as soon as known;

* Absence management by return to work interviews;

Qualifications & Experience

* Computer literate in Microsoft office and manufacturing software systems;

* Proven ability to manage a multi skilled team;

* Experienced and knowledgeable in capacity planning and scheduling work load requirements;

* Basic technical / inspection knowledge on the above disciplines;

* Experience of operating within a lean manufacturing/continuous improvement team environment;

* Able to develop continuous improvement in all aspects of the people, facility, processes and products;

* Ability to work to high commercial quality standards.
