Location: Bolton Salary: Up to £35,000 Hours: Monday to Friday

About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Claims Handler with a strong background in Employers' Liability and Public Liability (EL/PL) claims to join our independent, chartered commercial insurance brokerage. You'll be part of a dynamic team managing a broad portfolio of claims across commercial and personal lines, including a specialist childcare insurance scheme.

This role offers exposure to a wide range of claims, with a particular emphasis on EL/PL, including:

  • Employers' Liability

  • Property Damage

  • Business Interruption

  • Equipment Breakdown

  • Professional Indemnity

  •  

  • Directors & Officers Liability

  • Cyber, Terrorism & Financial Crime

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate EL/PL and other insurance claims to determine liability and coverage

  •  

  • Promptly acknowledge new claims and maintain clear communication throughout the process

  •  

  • Conduct thorough investigations, gathering relevant documentation and evidence

  •  

  • Negotiate settlements with insurers, claimants, and third parties

  •  

  • Ensure compliance with FCA regulations and internal procedures

  •  

  • Maintain accurate records and operate a robust diary system for follow-ups

  •  

  • Deliver exceptional customer service and promote best practices

  •  

  • Build strong relationships with clients and insurers

  •  

  • Stay informed on industry trends, especially in liability and childcare sectors

  •  

  • Support Account Executives with detailed reporting on complex claims

  •  

  • Engage in ongoing training and development within the T&C framework

  •  

What We're Looking For

Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years' experience handling EL/PL claims within commercial insurance

  •  

  • 5 GCSEs A-C (or equivalent), including Maths and English

  •  

  • Experience across multiple claims classes is highly desirable

  •  

Key Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  •  

  • High attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills

  •  

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
