Job Summary
A skilled and experienced Joiner is required to join a construction project on a live school site at Norbridge House, NW17AB. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of joinery tasks, working with timber and other materials to create and install structures and fittings, while prioritizing the safety of the school environment.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Manufacturing & Installation:
    • Create and install a variety of wooden structures and fittings, including door frames, doors, windows, staircases, and general woodwork such as furniture, shelving, skirting boards, and other fixtures and fittings.
    • Manufacture to required standards and erect structures using wood or similar materials.
  • Repairs & Maintenance: Undertake repairs of items like furniture, windows, doors, locks, ironmongery, floors, and plasterboard.

  • Technical Interpretation:
    • Read, understand, and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and sketches.
    • Conduct site surveys and create design drawings, alongside sketches, as needed.

  • Material Management:
    • Determine and estimate the materials required for a job, produce cutting lists, and assist with managing stock levels.
    • Select the appropriate wood for specific tasks.
    • Work with suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Tool Operation:
    • Safely use and maintain a range of joinery tools, including both hand tools (saws, chisels, planes, hammers, screwdrivers) and power tools (circular saws, jigsaws, mitre saws, routers, drills, sanders, nail guns, etc.).
  • Quality Control & Reporting: Conduct quality checks on finished products, ensure compliance with building codes and regulations, and produce progress reports.

  • Health and Safety:
    • Strictly adhere to all site-specific health and safety regulations and procedures, wearing appropriate PPE and reporting any concerns, especially concerning safeguarding children on the school site.
    • Maintain a safe and tidy work environment, clearing up wood cuttings and other debris promptly.
  • Collaboration: Work effectively as part of a team, liaising with other tradespeople, site management, architects, designers, and clients.
