Position: Senior Legal Cashier

Location: Preston

Salary: Up to £32,000 per annum

Hours: Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week

The Role

An established law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Cashier to join its Finance team at its Head Office. This is a full-time role offering a great opportunity for a seasoned Legal Cashier looking to take the next step in their career.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the Cash Office team to achieve operational excellence
  • Train, mentor, and supervise staff to ensure efficiency and compliance
  • Drive continuous improvement and create streamlined financial processes
  • Oversee work allocation, prepare staff rotas, and ensure tasks are completed effectively
  • Act as the SAR audit lead and serve as a key point of contact for auditors
  • Ensure compliance with SRA Accounts Rules and other financial regulations
  • Collaborate with teams across the firm to support business functions
  • Handle core finance tasks, including bank reconciliations, electronic payments, and client-office transfers

The Person

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Extensive experience in legal cashiering within a law firm setting
  • Proven leadership and team management skills
  • Expertise in financial systems and data reconciliation
  • Strong proficiency in Practise Management Systems
  • In-depth knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules, Accounting, and VAT regulations
  • Exceptional organisation and attention to detail
  • The ability to work autonomously while handling complex financial matters
  • A strong professional ethic and integrity
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of financial operations within legal practise
